Job Description

A Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) position is available in Temple, TX, offering a 13-week contract opportunity with a reputable healthcare organization. This role focuses on pediatric cardiopulmonary care and requires advanced knowledge in managing the respiratory needs of patients.

Work Schedule:

  • Three 12-hour night shifts (1830-0700)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and oversee respiratory care services, including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, inhaled medication, airway clearance, invasive and non-invasive ventilation, and bedside spirometry.
  • Respond to emergencies with appropriate cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
  • Review physician orders, analyze diagnostic tests, and provide therapies tailored to patient condition.
  • Implement approved protocols under physician guidance.
  • Educate patients on respiratory equipment use and techniques.
  • Document treatments, manage supplies, and report therapeutic outcomes.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control, HIPAA, and other organizational policies.
  • Collaborate professionally with healthcare teams and students.
  • Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives for clinical care.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Required: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification, Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Preferred: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in general pediatrics and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and ability to work under stress.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and related computer skills.
