Job Description

A Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with pediatric expertise is invited to contribute specialized respiratory care in a dynamic travel role based in Lakewood, OH. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to apply clinical skills in a fast-paced medical environment, focusing on pediatric respiratory therapy within a prominent medical center.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer medicated aerosol therapy including small volume nebulizers, breath actuated nebulizers, vibrating mesh nebulizers, and patient education on aerosol, MDI, and DPI therapies
  • Perform airway clearance therapies such as clapping, vibration, directed cough, positive expiratory pressure and oscillatory PEP, hyperinflation therapy, and high-frequency chest wall oscillation
  • Provide comprehensive airway management including suctioning, tracheostomy care, manual ventilation, ventilator checks, CPAP/BiPAP/NIMV management, initiation and management of NAVA
  • Manage high-risk deliveries by assisting with surfactant administration, following NRP protocols, T-piece ventilation, and intubation
  • Conduct blood gas sampling, analysis, and interpretation
  • Execute humidity therapy utilizing aerosol masks, trach collars, t-pieces, heated humidity devices, and HME
  • Apply clinical practice guidelines for asthma care, cystic fibrosis, respiratory distress syndrome management, acute chest syndrome, nitric oxide therapy, and other respiratory consult services
  • Monitor patient status via pulse oximetry, peak flow meters, capnography, ventilator graphic interpretation, spontaneous breathing trials, and transcutaneous CO2 monitoring
  • Facilitate transport of pediatric patients including MRI and assisted ventilation, participation in neonatal rapid response teams, and handling of inhaled nitric oxide therapy
  • Ensure thorough cleaning and maintenance of respiratory equipment and devices

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
  • Proven pediatric respiratory therapy experience with proficiency in the specified clinical skills
  • Ability to perform complex respiratory assessments, therapies, and equipment management
  • Strong knowledge of clinical practice guidelines specific to pediatric respiratory conditions
  • Adaptability to fast-paced hospital environments and commitment to patient-centered care
