Qualifications/Required Experience

  • Active credential as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Pediatric respiratory care experience preferred
  • Current state licensure for respiratory care, or eligible
  • CPR and NRP certification required
  • Proficiency with pediatric airway management, ventilatory support, and blood gas analysis

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive pediatric respiratory care, including:
    • Medicated aerosol therapies (nebulizers, vibrating mesh technologies)
    • Patient/family education for aerosol, MDI, and DPI therapy
    • Bar Coding Medication Administration; use of automated dispensing systems
    • Airway clearance techniques (clapping, vibration, cough assist)
    • Mechanical ventilation: initiation, management, system checks, NAVA/NIMV/CPAP/BiPAP
    • Blood gas sampling, analysis, and interpretation
    • High-risk delivery room support; surfactant administration; neonatal rapid response
    • Advanced oxygen and specialty gas therapies (Nitric Oxide, Heliox)
    • Clinical protocols adherence for asthma, RDS, CF, and acute chest syndrome
  • Ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment
  • Perform transport and monitoring of ventilated pediatric patients, including MRI and internal transport support
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams for best patient outcomes
