Responsibilities:
- Administer medicated aerosol therapies including small volume and vibrating mesh nebulizers, and ensure patient education on aerosol, MDI, DPI therapies.
- Perform airway clearance therapies such as clapping, vibration, directed cough, high-frequency chest wall oscillation, and cough assist.
- Manage airway procedures including suctioning, tracheostomy care, manual ventilation, and ventilator system checks.
- Provide care during high-risk deliveries including surfactant administration, NRP protocol adherence, and intubation.
- Conduct blood gas sampling, analysis, and interpretation.
- Deliver humidity therapy using various equipment like heated aerosol masks and HME devices.
- Follow clinical practice guidelines such as asthma care, CF care, RDS management, and acute chest syndrome protocols.
- Monitor patient vitals and ventilator waveforms, perform spontaneous breathing trials, and transcutaneous CO2 monitoring.
- Facilitate patient transport with specialized equipment, including neonatal rapid response interventions.
- Manage oxygen and special gas therapies, ensuring proper use and maintenance of related equipment.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.
- Proven proficiency in pediatric respiratory care modalities outlined above.
- Ability to interpret clinical data and adjust therapies accordingly.
- Experience with respiratory care protocols and patient education in pediatric settings.
