Job Description

A certified Radiation Therapist is needed to administer precise radiation treatments as prescribed by Radiation Oncologists. This role requires interaction with patients across all age groups, including newborns through geriatrics, who are undergoing cancer therapy. Strong interpersonal communication skills are essential to help patients understand their treatment, reduce their anxiety, and ensure accurate delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer radiation therapy safely and accurately following oncologist prescriptions.
  • Prepare treatment machines daily, logging warm-up activities and reporting anomalies.
  • Position patients for simulations and treatments using immobilization devices.
  • Explain procedures and expected outcomes to patients to encourage cooperation.
  • Maintain continuous audio and visual contact during treatments.
  • Perform simulation radiographs, tattoo treatment sites when necessary, and document with photographs.
  • Schedule daily treatments, monitor patient marks, and explain possible side effects.
  • Communicate any adverse reactions to nursing staff or Radiation Oncologists.
  • Conduct weekly portal localization films and comprehensive chart checks to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain treatment and simulation areas well-stocked and orderly.
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with patient transport and provide necessary patient support.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • ARRT certification (must be attached with application).
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Proficiency with Elekta radiation therapy equipment.
  • Previous experience in a hospital or community hospital setting preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Location: This position is based in Lapwai, ID, a small community known for its natural beauty and close-knit atmosphere. The area offers a peaceful setting with access to outdoor recreational activities and a friendly local environment.

Contract Type: This is a contract opportunity providing valuable clinical experience with the option to travel or relocate as needed. A completion bonus will be provided upon successful assignment completion.
