Job Description

Deliver comprehensive nursing care across multiple medical-surgical units with opportunities to enhance your clinical skills in a dynamic hospital setting. This contract position focuses on telemetry nursing in various specialty areas including cardiac, oncology, orthopedic, and surgical patients. Your expertise in cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry experience will be crucial as you provide high-quality patient-centered care in a Level III Trauma Center that also offers Level II NICU and Primary Stroke Center services.

Responsibilities include:

  • Floating to diverse medical-surgical units such as General Surgical, Cardiac Neuro, Oncology, Ortho, Cardiac Tele, Surgical Surge, and ED Holding to meet patient care demands.
  • Managing drain devices (JP, hemovac), central lines (PICC), nasogastric tubes, wound care including wound vac, and continuous bladder irrigation.
  • Collaborating with charge nurses, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and unit secretaries to deliver seamless care.
  • Utilizing EPIC charting system and other hospital equipment like Alaris pumps and Pyxis medication systems.
  • Adhering to established patient ratios: 1:5 during day shifts and 1:6 at night.
  • Maintaining adherence to safety standards, protocols, and scope of practice, especially when floating outside primary units.

Desired qualifications:

  • Active Registered Nurse licensure.
  • Minimum one year of telemetry nursing experience.
  • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale.
  • Strong medical-surgical nursing skills with proficiency in cardiac monitoring and telemetry.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, flexible environment with rotating weekend and holiday shifts.
