Job Description
Provide specialized nursing care during night shifts in a cardiac-focused unit managing patients with myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, peripheral vascular disease, and occasional medical-surgical overflow. This role involves administering and monitoring cardiac drips (excluding nitrates), delivering both routine and complex care plans, and coordinating patient education and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver nursing care following the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Manage psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
- Administer medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
- Document all patient history, symptoms, medications, and care activities accurately.
- Provide patient, family, and caregiver education tailored to learning needs.
- Fulfill unit expectations for leadership and clinical competencies.
- Delegate and assign tasks appropriately to optimize patient care.
- Float to other units as needed.
- Work every other weekend with no on-call requirement.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current RN license in the state of employment or a compact license.
- BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of one year nursing experience in a relevant specialty preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Completion of orientation and competency validation as required for new hires.
Schedule:
- Night shifts, 7 PM to 7 AM, full-time.
- Weekend rotation every other weekend.
