Job Description
This nursing opportunity offers challenging and rewarding experience on a Med/Surg telemetry unit in a Level IV Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center located in the Milwaukee area. The unit cares for a variety of Med/Surg patients, providing diverse clinical exposure and the chance to sharpen your telemetry skills in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care for Med/Surg telemetry patients, including those with tracheostomies, chest tubes, wound vacuums, and multiple IV infusions (Lasix, insulin, heparin drips)
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and telemetry data via a central monitoring system with dedicated telemetry technicians
- Collaborate closely with CNAs, RNs, rapid response teams, and other support staff to deliver comprehensive patient care
- Utilize EPIC EMR for documentation and medication administration through Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis dispensing systems
- Float to other Med/Surg units as needed to support staffing
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active RN licensure
- Minimum 2 years Med/Surg nursing experience preferred
- BLS and NIH Stroke Scale certification required; ACLS preferred
- Proficient in tracheostomy care, chest tube management, telemetry interpretation, and IV infusion therapy
- Comfortable working a night shift from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am with a 6-week schedule cycle, including every other weekend and major holiday rotation
- Ability and willingness to work occasional extended time off if participating in certain clinical interviewing programs
