Job Description
Providing skilled nursing care in a dynamic healthcare environment, this role focuses on delivering comprehensive patient care to medical, surgical, and respiratory patients. The position offers an opportunity to work day shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM, supporting a variety of units including Medical/Surgical, Behavioral Health, Joint, and Emergency Departments when needed. The schedule includes weekend duties (6 shifts per 6-week period) and call responsibilities (2 call shifts per 6-week period).
Key Responsibilities:
- Practice independently within the scope of nursing standards, managing routine and complex patient needs.
- Deliver nursing care following the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
- Address patients psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs.
- Administer medications and treatments safely, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient history, symptoms, and treatment.
- Provide patient, family, and caregiver education tailored to individual learning needs.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a related nursing specialty favored.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico or a Compact state.
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications (AHA only).
- Completion of organizational entry competency and MedSurg-specific validations.
