Job Description

An RN with MedSurg and Telemetry experience is needed for a contract opportunity in Macon, GA. This role supports inpatient medical-surgical and telemetry units within a busy, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital recognized as a Chest Pain and Stroke Center. The position requires skill in managing complex patient care alongside a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience in MedSurg or Telemetry
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • BLS certification required; ACLS preferred
  • Competency in EKG interpretation required during onboarding
  • Certification in medical-surgical nursing is a plus
  • Proficient in trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and glucometer use
  • Familiar with insulin and heparin drips, and drips titrated to heart rate

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care to a 1:4-6 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Manage critically ill patients with complex medical needs on med-surg and telemetry units
  • Assist with procedures such as phlebotomy off central lines and trach/chest tube care
  • Collaborate with charge nurses, resource nurses, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists
  • Use Epic EMR system and specialized equipment including Philips monitors and Nova Glucose Stat Strips
  • Float across multiple med-surg/telemetry units as needed
