As a travel nurse specializing in Med-Surg/Telemetry, youll gain hands-on experience in a high-acuity teaching hospital recognized as a Level 1 Trauma, Chest Pain, and Stroke Center. This environment provides exposure to advanced technology, interdisciplinary teamwork, and various leadership styles, equipping you to tackle complex cases and sharpen your critical thinking.
Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts (7A7P or 7P7A)
- 56 weekend shifts every 6 weeks
- No on-call requirements
- Work one shift for each major holiday
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years recent Med-Surg/Telemetry RN experience
- Current RN license and BLS required (ACLS preferred; must pass EKG competency upon onboarding)
- Certification in Med-Surg nursing a plus
- Strong assessment, time management, and patient education skills
- Proficient in cardiac rhythm monitoring/interpretation and post-cath care
- Experience managing and titrating drips (including insulin, heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, milrinone, Digoxin, nicardipine)
- Knowledge of trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts/maintenance, glucommander, and discharge planning
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide care for patients with acute and complex medical conditions, including post-surgical and cardiac cases
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams and utilize Epic EMR
- Float to all Med/Tele units as needed for comprehensive exposure
- Ensure effective patient education and coordinated discharge planning
