Job Description

A nursing opportunity is available for experienced RNs specializing in telemetry care with a focus on cardiac patients, including conditions such as myocardial infarction (MI), congestive heart failure (CHF), arrhythmias, and peripheral vascular disease (PVD). This contract role offers an engaging night shift schedule from 7 PM to 7 AM with immediate start availability in Alexandria, LA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for telemetry patients, including managing cardiac drips.
  • Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in line with nursing practice standards.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments while monitoring for side effects and efficacy.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient documentation including history, symptoms, and care provided.
  • Educate patients, family members, and caregivers on health management and care plans.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team to delegate tasks and manage patient care efficiently.
  • Adhere to established competency requirements and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred).
  • Minimum of one year experience in telemetry or related nursing specialty preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse license in the state of employment or compact license.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
  • Ability to work independently while managing complex clinical situations.
  • Participation in orientation and competency validations upon hire.

Work Schedule:

  • Night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM.
  • Every other weekend commitment.
  • Float to other units when needed; no on-call duties.
