Exciting full-time opportunity available for experienced Telemetry Registered Nurses prepared to deliver high-quality patient care within a dynamic, collaborative hospital environment. This contract assignment offers comprehensive nursing responsibilities on a busy telemetry unit managing patients with a range of acute cardiac conditionsincluding MI, CHF, arrhythmias, PVDas well as acute medical-surgical overflow. Primary shift is 7PM to 7AM with every other weekend required; on-call is not expected. This role involves occasional floating to accommodate patient needs and may lead to a permanent placement for candidates excelling in this setting.
Key Qualifications:
- Active RN license in the state of employment or compact state with good standing
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA, required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Minimum of one year of related specialty experience strongly preferred
- Ability to effectively manage 5:1 (occasionally 6:1) nurse-to-patient ratios in a fast-paced cardiac/telemetry environment
Core Responsibilities:
- Utilize the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation) for assigned cardiac/med-surg patients
- Administer medications and manage cardiac drips (excluding nitrates) per protocols; closely monitor for side effects and efficacy
- Thoroughly document patient histories, symptoms, interventions, and care plans while maintaining compliance with facility and ANA standards
- Provide education and support to patients, families, and caregivers, adapting to psychological, emotional, and cultural needs
- Collaborate with healthcare team members, delegate appropriately, and participate in ongoing competency validation and organizational training
