Highly skilled registered nurses are needed to provide exceptional care in a dynamic stepdown/ICU overflow unit. This contract opportunity features a 10-bed ICU/PCU overflow environment where nurses care for high-acuity patients and collaborate with an expert team. Unit staff enjoy access to state-of-the-art technology, including targeted temperature management, ventilators, and electronic documentation with Cerner. Staffed by dedicated RNs, the unit fosters professional growth and values collaboration and flexibility.
Schedule:
- 12-hour shifts
- Every other weekend required
- Rotating holiday coverage
Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive, bedside care for a diverse patient population in ICU and PCU settings
- Perform advanced nursing interventions, including ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
- Manage and administer critical care pharmacology, including IV sedation, paralytics, and vasopressors
- Assist providers during bedside procedures such as chest tube insertions and intubations
- Communicate effectively during mandatory bedside shift reports and nurse leader rounding
- Float as needed to other units within the hospital to ensure seamless patient care
Qualifications:
- Current, unencumbered RN license
- Minimum recent experience in a medical ICU at a large facility
- Proficiency in ventilator management, critical care pharmacology, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Familiarity with Cerner documentation is preferred
- Strong critical thinking abilities and adaptability in fast-paced, high-acuity settings
- Exceptional teamwork, communication, and flexibility
