A healthcare facility in Warner Robins, GA is seeking experienced registered nurses skilled in stepdown care to provide exceptional patient support on a contract basis. This role centers around caring for medically complex patients transitioning from intensive care units, requiring advanced clinical expertise and teamwork.
Responsibilities include managing patients with conditions such as respiratory failure, sepsis, stroke, and renal failure. You will perform bedside care including tracheostomy and chest tube management, PIV starts, insulin and heparin drips, and invasive line monitoring. Collaborating closely with CNAs, resource nurses, respiratory therapists, and hospitalists will be key to delivering comprehensive care. The unit operates with a 1:3-4 RN-to-patient ratio and supports a busy but cohesive culture.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of progressive PCU/stepdown nursing experience
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- CCRN certification preferred but not mandatory
- Competency in cardiac rhythm interpretation including passing an EKG competency exam
- Proficient in managing ventilators, invasive lines, and a range of bedside procedures
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Shift Details:
- 12-hour shifts (7 AM7 PM or 7 PM7 AM)
- Weekend rotation with 5-6 shifts every 6 weeks
- Work one major holiday shift per holiday season
- No on-call requirements
