Job Description

Deliver advanced nursing care in a stepdown unit setting, focusing on patients requiring close monitoring after intensive care. This contract role is based in Waco, Texas, and offers the opportunity to apply specialized cardiac and vascular nursing skills.

Key Qualifications:

  • Current RN license with a minimum of 3 years experience in stepdown or similar acute care environments
  • Proficient in managing HFNC (High Flow Nasal Cannula) and BiPAP therapies
  • Skilled in stable GTT (Glucose Titration) management
  • Experience caring for patients post-Cardiac Surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR) and managing cardiovascular and vascular cases including AAA repair, lobectomy, and carotid endarterectomy (CEA)
  • Familiarity with acute cardiac conditions such as NSTEMI, STEMI, ACS, along with handling pacers, sepsis, gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB), post-DKA, respiratory failure, and tracheostomy care

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and assess patients conditions continuously in a stepdown environment
  • Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely and according to protocols
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care and recovery
  • Maintain comprehensive patient records and communicate changes in condition promptly
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans and post-discharge care
