Provide specialized nursing care on a step-down unit focused on general medical and oncology patients. This role requires expertise in chemotherapy administration and IV therapy within a fast-paced hospital environment. The position offers a contract opportunity with a structured schedule and supportive team dynamics.

Key Responsibilities
- Administer chemotherapy via IV and start IVs safely and accurately
- Utilize Welch Allyn vital sign towers and Sigma IV pumps for patient monitoring
- Document patient care using EPIC electronic medical records
- Provide direct nursing care to step-down unit patients, maintaining a nurse-to-patient ratio typically between 1:4 to 1:6
- Float to other medical-surgical areas including Acute Unit and Emergency Room as needed
- Collaborate with charge nurses and support staff to ensure optimal patient care
- Work a night shift schedule of three 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM 7:30 AM), with assigned weekends every other weekend and flexibility through self-scheduling for day shifts
Qualifications and Experience
- Current Michigan RN license with BLS (AHA) certification
- ONCC or ONS oncology nursing certification required; pending ONS certification is acceptable
- Minimum of 2 years experience in PCU/Stepdown or similar setting
- Proven ability to administer chemotherapy and manage IV therapy effectively
- Competence with relevant medical equipment and EPIC documentation system
