Step into a dynamic nursing role focused on providing specialized care in a Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting. This contract position is based in Smyrna, TN, serving a diverse adult patient population requiring advanced monitoring and interventions. Youll care for patients with complex conditions such as continuous BiPAP needs, low-dose vasopressors, trauma injuries, and emergency dialysis.
Responsibilities include managing a range of critical and sub-critical patients, including those recovering from stroke with frequent neuro checks, stable craniotomies, and those on specialized drips like Fentanyl and Precedex. You will work with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 3:1, providing attentive and comprehensive care to a census of 36 beds.
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver expert nursing care to young adults through late adults with multifaceted conditions
- Monitor and manage patients on home ventilators, sheaths post-removal, and other critical care needs
- Collaborate within a variable staffing model comprising RNs and LPNs, assuming full responsibility for assigned patients
- Perform assessments using NIH Stroke Scale and maintain patient safety with continuous rhythm evaluations
Essential qualifications and certifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure with Stepdown/PCU experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) proficiency
- Successful completion of rhythm test
