Stepdown Registered Nurses play an essential role in delivering high-quality care to patients transitioning from critical care to general medical-surgical units. This contract role offers the chance to work alongside talented professionals in a dynamic and rewarding patient care environment focusing on those who require specialized monitoring and intervention.
Key Qualifications:
- Active and unrestricted RN license.
- Previous experience in a stepdown unit or similar setting is highly desired.
- BLS and ACLS certifications (current and valid).
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization skills.
- Familiarity with the use of cardiac monitoring equipment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Commitment to patient safety and high standards of care.
Schedule/Hours:
- Flexible shift availability, including days, nights, and potential weekends as needed by the unit.
Main Responsibilities:
- Monitor and assess patients transitioning from intensive to lower acuity levels of care, promptly recognizing any change in patient status.
- Implement, evaluate, and document individualized care plans in partnership with interdisciplinary teams.
- Administer medications, manage intravenous therapies, and perform bedside procedures as needed.
- Educate patients and families on care plans, discharge processes, and healthy recovery practices.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records and ensure effective hand-offs during shift changes.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and uphold professional standards at all times.
