Provide specialized nursing care as an RN on a Stepdown unit within a dynamic hospital environment. This role demands expertise in managing patients with complex respiratory conditions, requiring hands-on experience with trach and ventilator care. Successful candidates will deliver high-quality direct patient care, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and uphold patient confidentiality and professional standards.
Location: Saint Louis, MO a vibrant city known for its rich brewing history, iconic Gateway Arch, and a wide range of cultural and entertainment venues. Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation for patients primarily with respiratory failure, electrolyte imbalances, and cardiac conditions.
- Utilize critical care equipment including tracheostomy care, ventilators, BiPAP machines, and VAPO to manage patient needs.
- Collaborate with ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes.
- Maintain compliance with nursing practice acts, service standards, and organizational mission and values.
- Participate in unit float duties as required.
- Adhere to strict infection control standards, including mandatory influenza vaccination during flu season.
Qualifications:
- Current RN license eligible or valid in Missouri.
- Minimum 1 year experience in an inpatient Stepdown setting with respiratory heavy patient care.
- BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Dependability, flexibility, and ability to work effectively within a team.
- Comfortable managing patient loads with ratios typically between 1:3 and 1:4.
Schedule:
- Night shift: 7:00 PM 7:30 AM
- Weekend rotation every other weekend
- Flexible scheduling options with 36 or 48 guaranteed hours available
Additional Information:
- This is a 13-week contract assignment.
- Strict adherence to dress code including designated scrub color.
