A skilled Registered Nurse with step-down experience is needed for a contract position in a specialized cardiac medical unit. This role involves delivering advanced care to patients in a telemetry setting with a focus on cardiac management. The unit supports complex cases including stroke overflow and med/surg tele, equipped with the latest technologies to enhance patient outcomes.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Proficiency in telemetry nursing essential
- Experience with advanced cardiac procedures such as thoracentesis, pacemakers, cardiac catheterizations, and tracheostomies
- Certifications required: ASLS (Advanced Stroke Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Prior experience in step-down units managing complex cardiac and medical-surgical patients
- Ability to operate relevant medical equipment including IV pumps, Sara Steadys, Hi-flow, BiPAP, and Kangaroo pumps
- Adherence to professional dress code in clinical settings
Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional nursing care in a 20-bed cardiac medical unit with a patient-to-nurse ratio of approximately 5:1
- Participate in bedside shift rounds and effective handoff communication to ensure continuity of care
- Manage patients requiring advanced cardiac monitoring and interventions
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including four RN teams supported by nursing assistants and unit clerks
- Document patient care accurately using Meditech Expanse electronic health records
- Maintain compliance with unit-specific policies and hospital standards
Schedule:
- Typically 3 twelve-hour shifts per week with alternating weekends
- Scheduling flexibility considered within unit guidelines
