Job Description

Step into a dynamic nursing environment supporting patients on a progressive care stepdown unit specializing in general medicine and oncology. This contract role calls for an experienced RN ready to deliver high-quality care for a diverse patient population using the latest technologies and evidence-based practices.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts (19:00 07:30)
  • Every other weekend required
  • Block scheduling requests may be accommodated
  • Flexibility through self-scheduling, with weekends assigned by the manager

Qualifications:

  • Active Michigan RN license
  • At least 2 years of recent PCU/Stepdown experience
  • BLS certification (AHA)
  • ONCC or ONS certification (will accept pending ONS, ONC must be in hand)
  • Experience with IV chemotherapy administration and starting IVs
  • Proficiency with EPIC for documentation
  • Familiarity with equipment such as Welch Allyn Vital sign towers and Sigma IV pumps

Responsibilities:

  • Provide safe, diligent care to stepdown and oncology patients, including chemotherapy administration
  • Document accurately and efficiently in EPIC
  • Manage a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-6 with strong support staff, and lighter assignments for chemo admits
  • Flex between med-surg units as needed, including AU and ER, to serve med-surg patients
  • Adhere to established protocols for patient monitoring and medication administration
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care
