Job Description

Deliver expert nursing care in a demanding Stepdown unit catering to patients requiring continuous monitoring and advanced interventions. This contract opportunity is tailored for skilled RNs experienced in handling complex cases such as trauma patients, emergency dialysis, and those on specialized drips like Fentanyl and Precedex. Joining this unit means managing a diverse patient population aged 18 and above, including those with neurological conditions requiring Q2 neuro checks and individuals on home ventilators.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to a 36-bed Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit (PCU) managing complex conditions including continuous BiPAP, low-dose vasopressors, and critical electrolyte imbalances.
  • Monitor and care for trauma patients, stroke patients, and those with stable craniotomies, ensuring timely neuro assessments.
  • Administer and manage specialized treatments such as emergency dialysis, sedation drips, and care for patients with lumbar drains and sheath removals.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Maintain accurate documentation while adhering to safety and clinical protocols.

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

  • Current RN licensure with demonstrated Stepdown/PCU nursing experience.
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • Certification and competence in National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
  • Successful completion of rhythm interpretation testing.
  • Ability to manage 3:1 nurse-to-patient ratio effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment skills.
