Job Description
Provide skilled nursing care in a stepdown/Progressive Care Unit (PCU) specializing in complex patient needs. This contract role focuses on delivering comprehensive care to a diverse patient population, managing a 36-bed unit with a 3:1 nurse-to-patient ratio.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage patients requiring continuous BiPAP, low-dose vasopressors, and emergency dialysis
- Care for trauma patients, including those with lumbar drains and complex neurological needs such as stable craniotomies and stroke patients requiring Q2 neuro checks
- Administer and oversee specialized treatments including Precedex, Fentanyl drips, and CIWA protocols for patients on higher doses of Ativan
- Manage patients with acute conditions like hyperkalemia, hyponatremia, antifreeze ingestion, and rhabdomyolysis
- Provide care for patients with home ventilators (tracheostomies) and post-procedural care such as sheath removal and carotid endarterectomy (CEA)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
Qualifications and Certifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Certification in National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Successful completion of rhythm test for cardiac monitoring
