Job Description

A rewarding nursing opportunity is available for an experienced RN with stepdown unit expertise. This role focuses on critical care patients requiring advanced monitoring and interventions, making it an ideal position for nurses proficient in cardiovascular and vascular care.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience in a stepdown or progressive care setting
  • Proficient in managing High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and BiPAP therapies
  • Skilled in stable IV medication management (GTT management)
  • Experience caring for patients post Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG), Aortic Valve Replacement (AVR), Mitral Valve Replacement (MVR)
  • Strong cardiovascular and vascular background including Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) repair and lobectomy care
  • Knowledge of managing Carotid Endarterectomy (CEA), Non-ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (NSTEMI), ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI), Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS)
  • Familiar with pacer management, sepsis protocols, gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB), post diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) management, respiratory failure, and tracheostomy care

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to stepdown patients, monitoring complex cardiovascular and respiratory conditions
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement individualized care plans
  • Monitor and manage advanced therapies including HFNC, BiPAP, and IV medication infusions
  • Respond promptly to changes in patient status and provide appropriate interventions
  • Educate patients and families on post-procedure care and self-management strategies
