Job Description

This opportunity is based in Irving, TX, offering a rewarding contract position in a Level 2 trauma center specializing in post-acute surgical care. The role is tailored for experienced RNs proficient in trauma stepdown care, working primarily during the 7P-7A shift.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid RN license with stepdown nursing experience
  • Certification in ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Experience with trauma, orthopedic care, and the Meditech EMR system is preferred
  • Ability to perform patient assessments and telemetry monitoring effectively

Responsibilities:

  • Manage patient care in a 25-bed surgical trauma stepdown unit
  • Provide nursing care to patients recovering from trauma, vascular, bariatric, orthopedic, neuro/spine, and general surgeries
  • Monitor patients with acute neurological diagnoses and cardiac conditions, including post-operative and critical care cases
  • Administer intravenous drips such as Amiodarone, Heparin, Nitroglycerin, and others as prescribed
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team consisting of 44 full-time nursing staff ensuring a patient ratio of 1:4 to 1:5
  • Follow unit policies including vital sign monitoring every 4 hours and continuous telemetry
