Job Description

Deliver excellent patient-centered care in a dynamic inpatient overflow unit specializing in both medical-surgical and stepdown patients. This contract opportunity calls for a nurse with strong clinical skills and a collaborative spirit, ready to contribute to positive patient outcomes and a supportive team environment.

Schedule/Hours:

  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call responsibility

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Valid RN license with telemetry competency
  • Demonstrated experience in progressive care
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Preferred: Recent stepdown or progressive care experience
  • Effective communicator, adaptable, and dedicated to patient satisfaction
  • Positive outlook, team-oriented, and compassionate approach essential

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a patient load of 1:5, with potential to flex to 1:6 according to the level of care
  • Deliver patient care in a 20-bed inpatient overflow unit, working with skilled colleagues including RNs, CNAs, and a charge nurse on each shift
  • Perform admissions, assessments, ongoing monitoring, and timely interventions tailored to medical-surgical and stepdown needs
  • Utilize telemetry and ensure all indicated patients are hardwired to bedside monitors
  • Chart accurately using the Cerner EMR system
  • Support rapid patient turnover, helping facilitate short stays and seamless transitions of care
  • Float to additional units if needed, maintaining flexibility and collaborative engagement
  • Uphold all facility protocols, including dress code of navy or white tops with navy bottoms, or all white attire
