Job Description
Take on a vital role supporting a dynamic stepdown/ICU overflow unit in a renowned hospital setting. This contract opportunity centers on providing high-quality nursing care for patients requiring advanced clinical management, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and working alongside an experienced and collaborative team.
Key Details and Schedule:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts
- Every other weekend coverage required
- Holiday support expected
- No on-call shifts
- Floating across units as needed
Qualifications and Skills:
- Active RN license with stepdown or ICU experience in a large hospital setting
- Proficiency in hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management
- Advanced competence in critical care pharmacology, including IV sedation, paralytics, and vasopressors
- Expertise in central line management and experience assisting with bedside procedures (e.g., chest tube insertions, intubations)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment, think critically, and collaborate well with colleagues
- Experience with Cerner charting systems preferred
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct nursing care to a diverse adult patient population (ICU: 2:1 ratio, PCU: 4-5:1)
- Perform advanced assessments and intervene using the latest lift equipment, TTM, IV pumps, and ventilators
- Collaborate with medical providers for bedside procedures as needed
- Conduct consistent bedside shift reports and support patient rounding
- Adhere to all unit-specific policies and maintain high standards of patient safety and satisfaction
