Step into a highly specialized nursing role focused on critical care within a dedicated Stepdown unit in Hendersonville, NC. This opportunity offers a challenging and rewarding experience caring for patients requiring intensive monitoring and advanced nursing interventions in a dynamic hospital environment.

The unit features 10 beds designated for ICU and PCU overflow, with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 2:1 in the ICU and 4-5:1 in the PCU. Staff support is lean, with no unit secretaries or patient care techs, creating an empowering environment for skilled nurses to demonstrate autonomy and clinical expertise. Equipment utilized includes lifts, ventilators, targeted temperature management systems, and IV pumps, with documentation carried out on Cerner.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage complex patient care with a focus on hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management
• Administer and monitor advanced critical care pharmacology such as IV sedation, paralytics, and vasopressors
• Perform central line management and assist providers with bedside procedures including chest tube insertions and intubations
• Conduct bedside shift reports and participate in nurse leader rounding as a relief charge nurse
• Adapt to floating assignments across various units as needed

Qualifications/Desired Experience:

• Registered Nurse with current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Proven experience in a Medical ICU setting within a large facility
• Proficient in advanced hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management
• Strong critical thinking skills, flexibility, and excellent teamwork abilities
• Comfortable with patient acuity requiring IV sedation, paralytics, and vasopressor therapies

Schedule:

• 12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday support expected
