Job Description

A rewarding opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse skilled in stepdown care to contribute in a critical role on the trauma stepdown unit. This contract position offers the chance to work a 7 PM to 7 AM shift within a Level 2 trauma center known for its advanced patient care and supportive team environment.

Location: Fort Worth, TX a vibrant city offering a dynamic urban experience with a blend of rich cultural history, excellent dining, and outdoor attractions. Its central location provides easy access to major highways and airports, making daily commuting or relocation flexible and convenient.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality nursing care to patients recovering from acute surgical interventions such as trauma, bariatric, vascular, orthopedic, and neuro/spine surgeries
  • Managing complex post-operative cases including cardiac cath lab patients, CV surgery recovery, and pulmonary embolism care
  • Monitoring patient vital signs, telemetry, and administering IV drips such as Amiodarone, Heparin, Dopamine, and others per protocol
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to provide patient-centered care and maintain unit protocols including q4 vitals and patient assessments
  • Adapting to the fast-paced environment of a trauma stepdown unit with a maximum patient ratio of 1:5

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid RN license with stepdown experience
  • Certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Previous trauma, orthopedic, or Meditech EMR experience preferred
