As a stepdown nurse, youll collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team24/7 hospitalists and intensivists, respiratory therapists, IV/VAT specialists, and moregaining valuable skills and exposure to a variety of workplace practices. This is an excellent setting to work with diverse patient populations and cutting-edge technology, enhancing your resume and positioning you for future opportunities.
Schedule Details:
- Weekends: Every other
- Holidays: 75% of holidays required (as scheduled)
- RTO: Up to 6 days off (excluding holidays)
- No on-call requirement
- Schedule set every 6 weeks
Qualifications:
- Active RN license, valid for North Carolina
- Minimum 18 months of recent PCU stepdown experience
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Proficiency with trachs, cardiac drips, rhythm interpretation, central lines, chest tubes, blood product administration, wound/dressing changes
- Comfortable floating to additional area facilities as required
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide care for stepdown and PCU patients, including those with CHF, chest pain, stroke, diabetes, acute renal conditions, and more
- Maintain a typical ratio of 1:4 (up to 1:5) depending on acuity
- Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, and other unit staff for comprehensive patient care
- Utilize EMR (EPIC), Alaris pumps, Omnicell, and Phillips monitors
