Providing critical care on a respiratory-intensive stepdown unit requires specialized skills and dedication. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced RN with stepdown expertise, seeking a rewarding contract assignment on the night shift. The role involves delivering direct patient care in a 22-bed unit managing patients with complex respiratory conditions such as respiratory failure, tracheostomies, and ventilation, as well as various medical comorbidities.

This assignment is based in Florissant, MO, near St. Louis. The area offers a mix of suburban comfort and easy access to city amenities, including cultural landmarks like the Gateway Arch, vibrant entertainment districts, and renowned sports teams. Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care to patients on a stepdown unit focusing on respiratory and medical needs.
- Monitor patient conditions and coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams.
- Utilize clinical skills including trach/vent management, BIPAP, and other respiratory support equipment.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and maintain professional standards in line with nursing practice guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively within a team to optimize patient outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Current RN license eligible or active in Missouri.
- Minimum 1 year of stepdown or intermediate care experience, especially in respiratory-heavy units.
- BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association.
- Ability to float to similar or lower acuity units as needed.
- Strong teamwork, flexibility, and dependability.
Schedule and Contract Details:
- Night shifts (7:00 PM7:30 AM).
- 36 or 48 hours per week, as submitted with application.
- 13-week assignment.
- Every other weekend and occasional weekend hours as required.
