Job Description

Provide specialized nursing care in a stepdown unit, supporting patients who require close monitoring yet do not need intensive care. This role involves working night shifts with a focused patient ratio, delivering high-quality clinical care within a dynamic hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing assessments and interventions for stepdown patients
  • Monitor patients closely, recognizing changes in condition and responding appropriately
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement individualized care plans
  • Administer medications and treatments safely, adhering to protocols
  • Maintain accurate documentation using Epic electronic charting
  • Float within scope across like units to support facility staffing needs
  • Participate in holiday and weekend rotations as scheduled

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current RN license in South Carolina or Compact License prior to start
  • Minimum of 1 year stepdown or progressive care nursing experience
  • Certification in ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • Preferred: NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Experience with Epic charting system beneficial
  • Ability to work 3 consecutive 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
  • No local candidates accepted; willingness to relocate or travel
