Job Description

An opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Nurse skilled in Stepdown care to support a 19-bed blended Cardiac Neuro Stepdown unit during night shifts in Evansville, IN. This is a travel assignment with a 13-week contract length starting either April 20 or May 4, with guaranteed 36 hours per week and bi-weekly orientation sessions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care for post-procedure cardiac patients, including cath/stents/interventions, pacers, ICD, ablation, and STEMI/NSTEMI identification and care
  • Manage neuro patients (stroke, seizures, possible TBI) and other critical conditions such as sepsis and DKA
  • Interpret tele/12-lead EKGs, initiate and titrate drips including Cardizem, Amio, Cardene, Nitro, Insulin, and Heparin
  • Perform NIHSS/strong neuro assessments, chest tube management, and PIV insertion
  • Collaborate with Care Nurses and float across campuses as needed with proper notice
  • Adhere to unit policies including scrub color requirements and participate in precepting students or new hires when needed

Qualifications / Desired Experience

  • Current active compact RN license
  • AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (required upon application)
  • Minimum of 2 years solid Stepdown experience plus 1 travel contract OR 5 years Stepdown experience without travel
  • Recent EPIC charting experience (checkoff class required)
  • Ability to pass tele tests as part of assignment requirements
  • Strong assessment and critical thinking abilities

Schedule / Hours

  • 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
  • Three weekends out of every six-week schedule
  • No on-call or call-back requirements
