Provide expert nursing care in a specialized cardiac step-down unit that supports patients transitioning from intensive care while managing complex cardiac and medical-surgical needs. Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required
  • Proven proficiency in telemetry monitoring and management
  • Experience with advanced cardiac care procedures including thoracentesis, peritoneal dialysis (PD), tracheostomy care, pacemaker management, cardiac catheterization support, and CIWA protocols
  • Certifications in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) mandatory
  • Comfortable utilizing electronic health records systems (Meditech Expanse preferred)
  • Ability to function effectively within multidisciplinary teams supporting a 5:1 patient ratio

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care on a 20-bed cardiac step-down unit specializing in cardiac and med/surg telemetry patients
  • Monitor and manage complex cardiac conditions including CHF, COPD, and post-cardiac catheterization cases (except femoral access)
  • Employ advanced procedures and critical thinking to address patient needs
  • Participate in bedside shift rounds and handoffs to ensure seamless patient care transitions
  • Comply with unit and hospital protocols including emergency response guidelines

Contract Details:

  • Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week with every other weekend rotation or a 4-week shift rotation option
  • Employment Type: Contract

This role provides exposure to a Stemi-designated hospital, stroke center, and Level II trauma center environment, supported by a cohesive nursing team and enhanced by modern medical equipment including IV pumps, high-flow oxygen devices, BiPAP, and Kangaroo pumps.
