Job Description

Exceptional opportunity for experienced Stepdown RNs specializing in cardiac and neurological care to advance their career in a dynamic, travel nursing role. This position supports post-procedure patients in a well-established, 19-bed blended unit with a patient population requiring critical expertise in telemetry, neuro assessments, and complex drip management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert nursing care for post-cardiac procedure patients including cath/stents, pacemakers, ICDs, and ablations.
  • Manage neuro patients with CVAs, seizures, and trauma, performing strong NIHSS assessments.
  • Interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKGs; administer titratable drips such as Cardizem, Amio, Heparin, and insulin.
  • Deliver sepsis care, monitor chest tubes, and perform PIV insertions.
  • Participate as a float nurse within the skillset across nearby campuses with appropriate notice.
  • Contribute to team development by precepting nursing students and new hires in a teaching hospital environment.

Qualifications:

  • Active current compact RN license with AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
  • Minimum two years solid Stepdown nursing experience plus one travel contract or five years in Stepdown if no travel experience.
  • Recent proficiency with EPIC charting system (checkoff required).
  • Demonstrated ability to pass required telemetry testing and maintain critical thinking skills.

Schedule:

  • 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 PM 7:00 AM
  • Guaranteed 36 hours per week
  • Rotation includes three weekends every six weeks and alternating holidays

Additional Details:

  • 13-week contract starting April 20 or May 4, with bi-weekly orientation.
  • Call-ins subject to strict policy; consistent attendance is critical.
  • Scrub color navy blue with no competing logos allowed.
  • COVID-19 vaccine not required but subject to change.
