Job Description
Make a difference in a dynamic stepdown setting, providing specialized care to patients in an advanced medical ICU and PCU overflow unit. Work alongside compassionate, skilled professionals who are dedicated to excellent patient outcomes, using up-to-date equipment such as targeted temperature management systems, ventilators, and advanced IV pumps.
Schedule & Shift Details:
- 12-hour shifts (days or nights available)
- Every other weekend rotation
- Support required during holidays
- No on-call requirements
- Floating within the hospital as needed
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Current, active RN license
- Significant Medical ICU experience in a large acute care environment
- Proven ability with hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and critical care pharmacology (IV sedation, vasopressors, paralytics)
- Strong clinical judgment and adaptability in fast-paced situations
- BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
- Experience with central line care and assisting in bedside procedures (chest tube insertion, intubation)
- Prior use of Cerner documentation system is preferred
- Team-oriented, dependable, and effective communicator
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver evidence-based stepdown and ICU care, managing a 2:1 ICU or 4-5:1 PCU nurse-to-patient ratio
- Collaborate closely with medical providers and support bedside procedures as needed
- Perform thorough bedside shift reports to enhance continuity of care
- Take part in nurse leader rounding and support a positive workplace culture
- Practice in accordance with established clinical policies and required dress code (navy blue or white scrubs)
