This travel nursing role offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work in a Stepdown Cardiac Neuro unit specializing in post-procedure cardiac and neurological patient care. The position is based in Boonville, IN, requiring a 12-hour night shift schedule from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM. This 13-week assignment includes bi-weekly orientation, guaranteed 36 hours per week, and involves floating within the skillset to nearby campuses with appropriate notice.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current active compact RN license
- AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Minimum 2 years solid Stepdown experience PLUS 1 travel contract OR 5 years of Stepdown experience without travel
- Recent EPIC charting experience with willingness to complete checkoff class
- Proficient in tele/12-lead EKG interpretation (travelers must pass tele tests)
- Skilled in post-cardiac cath care, drip initiation/titration (Cardizem, Amio, Cardene, Nitro, Insulin, Heparin)
- Strong neuro assessments and NIHSS competency
- Able to manage sepsis care, chest tubes, PIV insertion
- Excellent assessment and critical thinking skills required
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized care for patients post cardiac interventions and neurological events including STEMI/NSTEMI, carotid endarterectomy, CVAs, seizures, and DKA
- Float between campuses within a 40-mile radius as required with notice
- Handle a blended unit of 19 beds with variable nurse-to-patient ratios, primarily 1:4 at night for Stepdown
- Participate in precepting students and new hires in a teaching hospital environment
- Adhere to dress code with navy blue scrubs (no competing logos)
