This position involves providing specialized nursing care on a step-down unit focused on general medical and oncology patients. The role requires certification in oncology nursing and significant experience in PCU/step-down nursing to ensure high-quality patient outcomes.

Location: Situated in Battle Creek, MI, this role offers the opportunity to work in a dedicated step-down unit specializing in medical and oncology care. The unit is equipped with advanced technology including Welch Allyn vital sign towers, Sigma IV pumps, and EPIC for electronic documentation, supporting comprehensive patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Administer chemotherapy via IV safely and effectively
• Start and manage IVs with precision
• Utilize electronic systems for documentation and patient monitoring
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide patient-centered care
• Float to other medical-surgical areas including acute units and emergency room as needed
• Maintain assigned nurse-to-patient ratios, adjusting for admissions and acuity

Qualifications and Experience:

• Current Michigan RN License required
• Active BLS (AHA) certification
• ONCC or ONS Oncology Nurse Certification required; pending ONS accepted, ONCC must be in hand
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/step-down nursing experience
• Call responsibility: None
• Weekend availability: Every other weekend required
• Ability to work night shift (3 x 12-hour shifts, 19:00-07:30)
• Flexibility to float to other med-surg areas as needed

Schedule:

• Night shift, 12-hour shifts, three nights per week
• Weekends assigned by manager; weekday scheduling via self-scheduling with manager approval
• Block scheduling requests may be accommodatedplease specify any special scheduling needs
• Must be available for first two weeks of assignment; any time-off requests post-offer require manager approval
