This assignment involves caring for a diverse patient population on a medical stepdown unit, giving you firsthand exposure to varied clinical presentations including sepsis, heart failure, hypertensive emergencies, respiratory failure, COPD, chronic kidney disease, diabetes, substance abuse, status epilepticus, and encephalopathy. Collaborate with a dedicated team, gain insights into different leadership philosophies, and broaden your skills in a supportive yet challenging environment.
Schedule/Hours:
- 48-hour contract
Key Qualifications:
- Active RN license
- Minimum 2 years of stepdown experience
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications
- Proficient in caring for patients with complex acuity in a 16-20 bed stepdown unit
- Patient assignment ratio: 1 RN to 4 patients
Responsibilities:
- Deliver evidence-based nursing care to acutely ill patients
- Closely monitor and respond to changes in patient status
- Collaborate efficiently with multidisciplinary teams
- Document thoroughly and communicate effectively with patients and families
- Demonstrate clinical judgment and critical thinking in a fluctuating environment
- Support peers and contribute to a safe, healing workplace
