Job Description
Step into a dynamic nursing environment supporting a 20-bed inpatient overflow unit specializing in both medical-surgical and step-down care. With fast-paced patient turnover and diverse cases, youll work alongside a collaborative team dedicated to delivering exceptional care to each individual. Nurses on this unit handle a range of acuity, with telemetry monitoring hardwired at every bedside for those who need it. The facility utilizes Cerner for EMR charting, and all staff are expected to float to other units as needed to ensure optimal care delivery across the hospital.
Schedule:
- Shifts available on both day and night rotations
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call responsibilities
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Active RN license with proven experience in step-down or progressive care settings
- Demonstrated competency with telemetry
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Recent progressive care/step-down experience is highly preferred
- Strong teamwork skills, positivity, compassion, and a patient-focused approach
- Comfortable handling quick turnover environments
- EMR experience with Cerner is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality, patient-centered care in both medical-surgical and step-down settings
- Manage multiple patients with ratios typically 1:5, stretching to 1:6 as needed
- Accurately monitor patients using telemetry equipment, documenting changes and escalating care appropriately
- Support clinical communication, patient education, and care coordination
- Collaborate with fellow RNs, CNAs, and other health professionals to optimize outcomes
- Float to comparable units to lend support during peak demand
- Adhere to dress code: navy and/or white tops, navy bottoms, or all white
