This contract role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a high-acuity environment supporting patients who require close monitoring after critical illness or surgery. Your clinical expertise, adaptability, and leadership skills will be highly valued, especially as you may be called upon to serve in a charge nurse capacity during your assignment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current, unrestricted RN license
- Minimum 2 years of recent stepdown, progressive care, or intermediate care unit experience
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- Demonstrated proficiency with complex patient assessments and interventions
- Excellent communication skills, collaboration, and the ability to remain calm in demanding situations
- Previous charge nurse experience or strong willingness and confidence to assume charge responsibilities as needed
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to patients with complex health needs
- Monitor vital signs, manage medications, and respond promptly to changes in patient conditions
- Serve as a resource to team members and delegate tasks appropriately when in the charge nurse role
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care plans and ensure optimal outcomes
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to less experienced staff
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold compliance with hospital policies and protocols
