Job Description

Provide skilled nursing care as a Registered Nurse in a combined long-term care (LTC) and rehabilitation setting, delivering high-quality patient-centered services. This contract opportunity requires dedication to excellent clinical outcomes and the ability to work 12-hour day shifts in a supportive environment recognized for outstanding care.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer nursing care for a 20-bed LTC unit and a 17-bed rehab unit, managing diverse patient needs
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to follow physician orders, particularly related to wound care and PIV insertion
  • Perform blood draws and adeptly use electronic charting with Epic (preferred) and Pyxis systems
  • Maintain accurate patient documentation and ensure compliance with care protocols
  • Float to nearby Peabody Manor (40 miles) as needed to support rehab and LTC patients
  • Participate in every other weekend rotation and holiday shifts as required; make up any missed shifts within two weeks
  • Complete a comprehensive 5-day orientation including onboarding and preceptored shifts

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Current Wisconsin RN licensure
  • Active AHA Basic Life Support certification
  • Minimum 2 years of recent LTC and post-acute nursing experience required
  • Strong wound care skills and ability to follow MD orders precisely
  • Experience with PIV insertion and blood draws
  • Charting experience using Epic strongly preferred; familiarity with Pyxis preferred
  • Previous travel nursing experience is highly desirable
  • Ability to manage a patient ratio of approximately 1:17-20 effectively
  • Flexibility to float to an additional facility as needed

Additional Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 36 hours guaranteed per week
  • Contract length: 6 weeks, start date ASAP
  • Orientation includes 1 day onboarding plus 4 shifts with a preceptor
  • Scrub colors: Black
  • No on-call or callback requirements
