Job Description

A unique opportunity is available for a seasoned Infection Preventionist (IP) to lead and develop an infection prevention program within a skilled and long-term care environment. This role offers a contract position based in a peaceful community in Montana, focusing on elevating infection control practices in a facility with a census of 94 residents receiving both long-term and short-term care.

Key Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) with active Montana state licensure.
  • Certification in Long-Term Care Infection Prevention (LTC-CIP) is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in infection prevention, including outbreak management.
  • Expertise in standard and transmission-based precautions, environmental cleaning, antimicrobial stewardship, and regulatory compliance.
  • Skilled in data analysis, surveillance, and quality auditing to identify and mitigate infection risks.
  • Experience working with electronic charting systems such as Meditech, Point Click Care, and SharePoint.
  • Strong leadership capabilities to support staff training, conduct investigations, and collaborate with public health officials.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Conduct comprehensive quality and chart reviews to ensure best infection control practices.
  • Develop and standardize infection prevention protocols tailored for long-term care residents.
  • Manage outbreak investigations and liaise with public health authorities.
  • Provide education and training to clinical staff to enhance infection prevention awareness.
  • Implement gap analyses to continually improve the infection control program.
  • Support the onboarding and training of new infection prevention personnel.

Schedule and Work Environment:

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with flexibility.
  • No weekend, holiday, or on-call duties; holidays are off.
  • One-week orientation with ongoing training opportunities.
  • Employee parking available; scrub color is flexible.
