A rewarding opportunity is available for a skilled Registered Nurse specializing in Infection Prevention within a long-term care and skilled nursing setting. This role centers on developing and standardizing infection control practices in a well-established healthcare facility located in Kalispell, Montana. The contract position offers a flexible Monday through Friday schedule, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with holidays off and no weekend or on-call duties.
Key responsibilities include conducting quality and chart reviews, auditing infection control practices, supporting healthcare staff, managing outbreak investigations in collaboration with public health officials, and assisting with training efforts to elevate infection prevention standards. This position plays a crucial role in building and sustaining a comprehensive infection prevention program to enhance resident safety and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Minimum 2-3 years experience in infection prevention, preferably in long-term care settings
- Current Montana state licensure as an LPN or RN
- Long-Term Care Certification in Infection Prevention (LTC-CIP) is required
- Strong knowledge of infection control protocols including standard and transmission-based precautions
- Proficiency in environmental cleaning and disinfection procedures
- Skilled in surveillance, data analysis, outbreak management, and regulatory compliance
- Familiarity with antimicrobial stewardship and resident care activities with infection risks
- Experience with Meditech, Point Click Care, SharePoint, and Pyxis medication dispensing systems preferred
- Ability to train and onboard new infection prevention personnel
