A healthcare professional with expertise in infection prevention and control is needed to support and build an infection prevention (IP) program in a skilled and long-term care facility. This contract position offers the opportunity to standardize infection control practices and potentially onboard and train a new infection preventionist. The role focuses primarily on quality and chart reviews, auditing, outbreak management, staff support, and gap analysis to ensure compliance with state and federal infection prevention regulations.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct quality and chart audits to maintain high standards of infection control
- Perform surveillance and analyze infection data to identify trends and prevent outbreaks
- Lead outbreak investigations and coordinate with public health authorities
- Support and educate staff on infection prevention best practices
- Assist in training and onboarding new infection prevention staff
- Standardize and maintain compliance with infection control procedures
- Collaborate with clinical educators and nursing leadership for program development
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in Montana
- Certified in Infection Prevention for Long-Term Care (LTC-CIP) required
- Minimum 2-3 years of infection prevention experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting
- In-depth knowledge of transmission-based precautions, environmental cleaning, antimicrobial stewardship, and regulatory requirements
- Familiarity with electronic charting systems such as Meditech, Point Click Care, and SharePoint, and medication-dispensing technology (Pyxis)
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., flexible hours
- No weekend, holiday, or on-call duties
