Working in the adolescent psychiatry unit, youll further your expertise by engaging with a diverse patient group, experiencing care models for trauma, self-harm, aggressive behaviors, and complex placement cases. The robust support structure fosters ongoing learning through exposure to highly engaged leadership and interdisciplinary teams, adding invaluable leadership and crisis management skills to your resume.
Schedule/Hours
- 3 x 12-hour shifts (weekend rotation required every third weekend)
- Flexible scheduling, floating within units as needed
- No on-call duties; holiday expectations per facility schedule
Qualifications
- Active RN licensure and current BLS
- Prior travel nursing assignment experience required
- Minimum six months psychiatric RN experience
- Able to pass CPI on-site (must safely manage aggressive patient movement)
- Strong de-escalation and milieu management skills
- IM medication administration; experience with asthma protocols
- Comfort with seclusion/restraint protocols and independent unit management
Key Responsibilities
- Manage complex cases for adolescents aged 4-12 with challenging behaviors (aggression, impulsivity, trauma, abuse)
- Administer medications and provide behavioral interventions
- Oversee unit safety, interact with multidisciplinary team, provide crisis intervention
- Float as needed across units/age groups according to facility requirements
