This setting is an ideal place to expand your skills as a Registered Nurse specializing in psychiatric care. Youll work directly with a dynamic team, caring for adolescent patients facing complex diagnoses such as suicidal ideation, oppositional defiant disorder, bipolar disorder, aggression, psychosis, and more. The unit is well-supported by therapists, case managers, security, and a dedicated code response team ensuring a safe and collaborative environment. Exposure to innovative safety protocols, multiple leadership styles, and a variety of operational structures enhances your professional versatility and rsum.
Schedule:
- 3 x 12-hour shifts per week
- Weekend rotation: Every third weekend
- No on-call
- Holiday schedules matched to facility needs
- Shift/unit assignments may vary; flexibility required
Key Qualifications:
- Minimum 6 months recent psychiatric RN experience
- At least one prior travel assignment completed
- BLS certification (CPI will be obtained on site)
- Skilled in de-escalation, physical holds, IM injections, and recognizing agitation
- Patient, compassionate, resilient with challenging behavior management
- Comfortable managing multiple escalated situations simultaneously
- Willingness to float across units and age groups as needed
Core Responsibilities:
- Direct patient care for adolescents (14-18 year olds)
- Utilize trauma-informed de-escalation and crisis intervention skills
- Document care in Cerner and utilize Omnicell for med dispensing
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team and participate in operational safety measures
- Respond promptly to codes and urgent incidents
