This position supports a 23-bed adolescent psychiatric unit catering primarily to patients aged 14-18, where each day brings opportunities for skill development and meaningful impact. Youll encounter varied diagnoses and situations, from crisis stabilization to long-term behavioral care, deepening your professional repertoire and preparing you for advanced career opportunities.

Schedule/Hours:

  • 3 x 12-hour shifts per week
  • Weekend rotation required (typically every third weekend)
  • Flexibility for float shifts across units and patient age groups

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 months relevant experience (prior travel assignment required)
  • Active RN license and BLS certification
  • CPI certification (completed onsite)
  • Demonstrated capability in deescalation, compassionate care, and maintaining professionalism in challenging scenarios
  • Comfortable with physical holds, IM injections, and rapid agitation recognition
  • Ability to manage multiple escalated events simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills: patience, resilience, and empathy

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to adolescents with complex psychiatric needs
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including therapists, case managers, and security
  • Utilize EMR (Cerner) and Omnicell medication dispensing
  • Ensure safe interventions, applying seclusion and restraint when indicated
  • Participate in organized activities and therapeutic groups
