Schedule/Hours
- 36 hours per week (3 x 12-hour shifts)
- Weekend rotation required every third weekend
- No on-call shifts
- Flexible schedule with possible floating to child or adult units
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 6 months of recent RN experience in a similar setting
- At least one prior travel assignment completed
- Active RN license and BLS certification (CPI obtained on-site)
- Proficient in verbal deescalation; comfortable with physical holds, patient restraints, and responding to psychiatric emergencies
- Strong assessment skills and ability to recognize and proactively address agitation
- Confident managing multiple escalated situations simultaneously
- Compassionate, resilient, and able to maintain professional boundaries
- Experience working with adolescents (ages 14-18) with psychiatric and behavioral diagnoses
- Familiarity with Cerner EMR and Omnicell medication dispensing preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver evidence-based psychiatric nursing care to adolescent patients within a 23-bed unit
- Respond to behavioral emergencies, administer IM injections, and implement appropriate interventions
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team: therapists, case managers, security, and leadership
- Flexibility to float throughout the facility as needed, caring for various age groups
- Adhere to all safety protocols, participating in seclusion and restraint procedures as indicated
