Job Description

Schedule:

  • 3x12-hour shifts per week
  • Weekend rotation: Every third weekend
  • No on-call requirements
  • Holiday shifts based on regularly scheduled days

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to adolescent patients in a 23-bed behavioral health unit
  • Independently manage a wide range of behavioral health crises, including aggression, self-harm, and trauma
  • Perform de-escalation and milieu management across diverse developmental and cognitive levels
  • Safely implement seclusion/restraint protocols and administer intramuscular medications as needed
  • Collaborate with case managers, therapists, security, and response teams to optimize patient and staff safety
  • Document care and interventions using Cerner EMR; manage medication administration via Omnicell
  • Float between child and adult psychiatric units as patient needs dictate

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active RN license and current BLS certification; CPI certification (completed on-site)
  • At least 6 months of psychiatric nursing experience and one prior travel assignment completed
  • Proven ability to manage multiple escalated situations simultaneously
  • Experience with adolescent behavioral health, trauma, and acute crisis stabilization
  • Comfortable making critical decisions regarding safety and restraint protocols
  • Flexibility in scheduling and patient assignment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
